Primordial, back to home

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This policy explains how Primordial (the "Game"), published by BananaWare, an independent developer based in Portugal ("we", "us"), handles information when you play on Android. We are the data controller for the Game. Contact: luispcfialho@gmail.com.

Summary

  • Your game progress is stored only on your device. We have no player accounts and no servers.
  • The Game is free and funded by ads from Google AdMob. Google may use your advertising ID and approximate location to show and measure ads.
  • The Game uses Google Analytics for Firebase to see, anonymously, how the Game is played.
  • Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK, Switzerland and several US states), the Game asks for your choice before personalised ads, and you can change it at any time in Menu → Ad privacy choices.
  • We never sell your name, e-mail, contacts or files: we do not collect them.

Information stored on your device

Your progress (DNA, species, Genes, Tree of Life, achievements, statistics and settings) is saved only on your device. Reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device and send nothing to us. We do not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, contacts, photos, files or precise location. To check for updates, the Game downloads a small version file from our website or from GitHub when it starts; like any web request this sends your IP address, which we do not store.

Information collected by third-party services

The Game includes software from Google that collects some information automatically:

  • Google AdMob (advertising): advertising ID, app-instance identifiers, device information (model, operating system, language), IP address and approximate location derived from it, and ad interactions (impressions, clicks). Used to show, limit, measure and protect ads.
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics): app-instance identifier, device information, approximate location derived from the IP address, session length and game events such as opening the Game, tutorial steps, eras reached, Mass Extinctions and ads shown.
  • Google Play services: needed to install, update and run the Game.

Google processes this information under its own policies: Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Why we use information and legal bases

  • To run the Game and keep your progress (performance of our agreement with you).
  • To show personalised ads (your consent, where the law requires it).
  • To show non-personalised ads that keep the Game free, and to prevent fraud and abuse (our legitimate interests).
  • To understand how the Game is used and fix problems (your consent where required, otherwise our legitimate interest in improving the Game).

Your choices

  • Ad privacy choices: in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws, the Game shows a Google consent or opt-out message. You can review or change your choice at any time in Menu → Ad privacy choices. If you refuse personalisation, you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.
  • Advertising ID: you can reset or delete it at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
  • Notifications: you can turn the Game's reminders off in Android Settings → Apps → Primordial → Notifications.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Because we do not hold accounts or your identity, most data about you is held by Google and linked only to device identifiers; you can reset these identifiers as described above. To exercise any right, write to luispcfialho@gmail.com; we answer within the time required by law (normally one month). You may also complain to your data protection authority; in Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

United States: state privacy laws

Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising. In the last 12 months the Game, through Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase, has collected identifiers (advertising ID, app-instance ID, IP address), internet or other electronic activity (interactions with the Game and ads) and approximate geolocation. Ad personalisation may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out at any time in Menu → Ad privacy choices or by deleting your advertising ID. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, and we will not discriminate against you for using your rights. You or an authorised agent can send requests or appeals to the e-mail above.

Brazil (LGPD)

If you are in Brazil, you have the rights in article 18 of the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, including confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymisation or deletion, portability, information about sharing and withdrawal of consent. Contact us at the e-mail above.

Other countries

We respect the privacy rights given by the laws of other countries where the Game is available, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, South Korea and India. If your local law gives you additional rights, contact us and we will help.

International transfers

Google may process information in the United States and other countries. For transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Retention

Game progress stays on your device until you clear the Game's data or uninstall it. Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Advertising data is kept by Google according to its own retention policies.

Children

The Game is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over (16 and over where local law sets a higher age of digital consent). It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Game, contact us and we will help delete it.

Security

Information sent by the Game's Google services is encrypted in transit. Because we do not keep a server or a database of players, we do not store your personal data ourselves.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, inform you in the Game.
